Divorce & Remarriage: A Redemptive Theology by Rubel Shelly
I decided to read this book due to a large number of people in my immediate fellowship who were contemplating separation or divorce or had been divorced. Although the topic was of interest, I must admit trepidation about the author, Rubel Shelly and his reputation as liberal in his theology. This book is not liberal in its theology, but consists of sound biblical interpretation and reasoning. Anyone who counsels or leads a group in which marriage (divorce and separation) topics arise should read this book.

"Acts of the Apostles 22 - (KJV - King James Version)." Blue Letter Bible. 1996-2011. 21 Jul 2011. < http://www.blueletterbible.org/Bible.cfm?b=Act&c=22&t=KJV >)
So, why does the HCSB read as follows:
Acts 22:16 And now, why delay? Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sins by calling on His name.

"Six Megathemes Emerge from Barna Group Research in 2010" by the Barna Group explores emerging trends in our "Christian" religious landscape.
The Six Themes are...
The Christian Church is becoming less theologically literate
Christians are becoming more ingrown and less outreach-oriented.
Growing numbers of people are less interested in spiritual principles and more desirous of learning pragmatic solutions for life.
Among Christians, interest in participating in community action is escalating.
The postmodern insistence on tolerance is winning over the Christian Church.
The influence of Christianity on culture and individual lives is largely invisible.
Certainly, these are issues which I personally have had to deal with (or embrace, like number 4). It is worth a read as, I believe, it is relevant to our fellowship.
