With advisers, success
According to our RestorationUnity poll, many of our readers would like to see their congregations merge or experience greater interaction with other local churches of Christ, Independent Christian Churches / Churches of Christ (instrumental) and / or ICOC congregations. Who has suggestions on practically accomplishing this? I would like to solicit input. Has anyone been involved in a successful merger of congregations? Was the divide over doctrine, opinion and / or culture (race)?  Please comment, contact us or submit an article (registration required) if you have experience or advice.

I look forward to your insight.

Sincerely,

Phil Spadaro

Unity to Win the World
John 17:20-23 (New International Version) "My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

Isolation
The bible speaks of isolation as both bad and good. It is sinful for a believer or community of believers to isolate themselves from other believers. However, when a follower of God is isolated because of righteous distinction, the Lord is pleased. It is important for God's children to discern the impetus for separation. The motivation determines a course of unity or disengagement.
