What I Like About You!
When looking at someone do you find yourself criticizing (or sizing up) that individual? Is our natural tendency to find the best in others? With those we love dearly, do we overlook offensive habits, egregious behavior and extend more grace? Is it possible for us to widen our circle of love (and hearts) to see the best in others we do not like?

Love God, love people
Matthew 22:36-39 (NIV)"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?"  Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'

The Pharisees were attempting to trap Jesus with a clever question. They presented him with the entire law and asked him to pick a greatest command. Although their intent was to confound our Lord, they defined the boundaries of our faith and unity.

Distinctive, yet Unified
God’s people have always been called to be different, holy and distinctive. 1 Peter 1:15-16 tells us to, “…be holy, because [God] is holy.” 2 Corinthians 6:17 reminds us to, “…come out…and be separate…” The love of God has also always been inclusive. “[God] wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” (1 Timothy 2:4) Romans 5:8 tells us, “…God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Distinction and exclusion are two very different concepts, one Godly, the other, divisive.
