Tom Jones (not the Welsh heartthrob) gives his perspective on Restoration Forum XXV. Gregg Marutzky and Tom fielded questions during a Q & A session about the ICOC after a “What’s Happening with the International Churches of Christ” update class. Tom makes a profound comment about unity and its purpose.
“I went with a concern that there might be an emphasis on unity just for the sake of unity, but several speakers went out of their way to make it clear that unless unity results in greater efforts to carry out the mission of taking the gospel to the world, it will not serve God’s purposes.”
I would like to thank Tom and Gregg for their efforts to facilitate unity within the Restoration Movement. They maintain a website, Connect 4 Change which encourages developing relationships among those in the Restoration Movement.

What distinguishes one culture from
another? What makes families distinctive? If congregations have the
same theology and doctrine; what makes them different? Many times the
answer is tradition.
Tradition is not inherently wrong or
bad. It may have many redeeming qualities and produce positive
results. Tradition may provide a bridge to the past and unite
generations. It may also give a sense of stability when circumstances
are in flux. Even God instituted several traditions for His people to
follow; holy days, meals, sacrifices, offerings, etc... However, in
Mark 7:1-23 we see tradition gone awry.

What is good? Write down several things that you consider “good” characteristics.
Let's look at a couple of characteristics of Jesus and see if they are “good” by our definitions.
Righteous Anger
John 2:14-16
14In the temple courts he found men selling cattle, sheep and doves,
and others sitting at tables exchanging money. 15So he made a whip out
of cords, and drove all from the temple area, both sheep and cattle; he
scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables.
16To those who sold doves he said, "Get these out of here! How dare you
turn my Father's house into a market!"
● What are the conditions of this anger?
● When do we usually get angry?
● How is this different then the usual portrayal of Jesus?
