What is your favorite Bible translation & binding?

I have used the NKJV for 26 years. It is my preferred translation, though there are things I like about the ESV, HCSB, TNIV, and NASB as well.

Lately, however, I have been very disappointed with the binding quality of Thomas Nelson bibles.  Over the last year, I have purchased three NKJV bibles that were poorly constructed:  2 Nelson Study Bibles, and 1 giant print center column reference bible (I have had this last bible all of one week).  All three bibles have pages coming out as if they were never glued in at all ("clean as a whistle").  The pages are not tearing, ripping or fraying.  They are simply coming out.

Because Thomas Nelson is nearly the exclusive publisher of the NKJV bibles, these problems have caused me to consider a different translation in order to find a better constructed bible.

What is your favorite bible, and why?

5 Things I like about Scribd.com

Scribd is a web service that makes it easy to store and share documents online. Think of Scribd as the "YouTube" of documents (and pictures). My five favorite benefits of Scribd are as follows:
  1. Unlimited document storage and sharing. You decide whether your documents are public or private.
  2. Social integration. Like YouTube and Flickr, Scribd allows users to permit viewers to comment on their documents.
  3. Organization. Scribd allows users to create folders for storing documents, and also allows users to tag documents as well.
  4. Blogging tools. Scribd allows users to link to (e.g., Cleanse the Temple) or even embed their Scribd documents on their own websites (See the embedded document below).
  5. iPaper. Scribd frees authors to write their documents in the programs they choose and viewers can read the documents online without any proprietary viewers such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, or Adobe Reader (again, see the embedded document below). In fact, Scribd permits users to upload and share documents in the following formats:
Microsoft Office

Microsoft Word Files doc, docx Microsoft Powerpoint Files ppt, pptx, pps

Microsoft Excel Files xls, xlsx

PDF PDF pdf, ps
Open Office Open Office Documents odt, odp, sxw, sxi, etc. Images Images jpg, png, gif, tiff
Text Text Documents

You can view all of the Bibleweb content on Scribd here, or you can click these links to see examples of Word, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat documents stored at Scribd.com. Here is an example of an embedded Word document stored on Scribd:

Florida schools to teach evolution as fact - not theory

Dear Friend,

The Florida Department of Education has drafted and is now proposing new state educational standards for teaching evolution as fact as opposed to theory. Our own Taylor County School Superintendent and School Board have publicly asked concerned citizens who oppose this to make their opinions known.

Attached to this post are letters to each member of the State Board of Education. All you have to do is print the letters, print and sign your name, add the date, and then mail. The letters are pre-addressed. The letters in TIFF format will print the best, but in case you wanted to edit and personalize your own letters, I have provided a second copy in DOC format also. (I cannot take credit for the letters. They were prepared by someone else.)

Please mail the letters ASAP. The board meets next on Friday, December 14, 2007.

Please forward this letter on to whomever you please.

Sincerely,

Bill Blue
