Bored with God?

According to the Bible, there should always be something new to discover about the Lord. As long as our desire for a relationship with him continues we have fresh insights to be had. There are parts of God which we will not be able to comprehend or “discover”, however there is much revealed in scripture to be explored.

Without the thrill of chasing down newness in our relationship with God, boredom will certainly creep in. If we know everything there is to know, why read our Bible (to know Him)? Symptoms of boredom are; lowered frequency of Bible study, prayers by rote, frequently grabbing hold of “issues” (especially doctrinal / opinion), fellowship time is not about scripture or God, etc..., it is a time for argument and current (church) event discussion (mea culpa). Our spirituality drops and is evidenced in our lack of patience and increased frustration.

Along with our ongoing discovery of God is our pursuit of what pleases Him. The acid test of our genuineness in this endeavor is the attitude to be righteous rather than right. Can we let things go like opinions and peripheral  dogma so humility, unity and love can rise to the surface or our interactions with others? Many times our concern is more about minutiae than the Lord's perspective. The book of Job is an excellent example of 3 (sincere) men trying to tell Job what God thinks. There lack of spirituality and a misunderstanding of His perspective was chastised in the end.
