Scott Green, evangelist of the Seattle Church of Christ (ICOC) writes
of unity without a document. Churches who had been part of the
International Church of Christ (ICOC) structure until 2004 were
presented an agreement document in 2006 authored by several prominent
men in the former denomination.
The agreement called for a formal
declaration of unity and shared beliefs. Although many churches from
the ICOC “signed” this document, some did not and there was concern
that there would be more splits and disunity. Scott tells us that the
Vancouver Church of Christ (who did not sign) and Seattle (who did
sign) are “build[ing a] better partnership” despite the lack of a
formal agreement between them.
Psalm 133:1 How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in
unity! With or without a treatise of unity in the relationship, working
together as God' s children certainly makes Him happier than not
working together.
