Kelcy Hahn reports on a church split in Santiago, Chile. A former ICOC leader has been cajoled into joining Mr. McKean's movement. Once again, Mr McKean and his accomplices have been marked. Although the criticisms from him concerning the former ICOC may be valid, the bible clearly does not allow for divisiveness or arrogance.

Why write about this on a unity site? The reality of divisive hearts should spur us toward better unity. We must gaurd against such wolves and make sure we are building bonds with other Christians. Please pray for his repentance.

divisiveness

Divisiveness is the enemy of unity. It is natural for those who seek unity to be concerned about divisiveness.
mckean divisiveness continues

I desire unity across all the churches and all denominations. i realize this website specifically focuses on restoration movement churches and i understand that's where we need to begin.

I have a problem with the article that was posted. I'm neither pro-icoc or against. I'm neither pro kip's movement or against. I do have a concern however if it's a witchhunt out for kip. In the article the leaders of the church initiated talks with kip. The icoc representatives never spoke with kip (atleast not mentioned in the article) and yet he's lumped in with the actions of the other people.

Now im not naive, i've been apart of the icoc at one time. I have enough experience discussing matters with current and former members to know what's going on but this is just wrong. Our bibles are the standard and we (anybody who calls themself a christian) need to be a lot more careful in how we handle situations. The post on this site says "mckean divisiveness continues" yet was it mckean who went to santiago to split the church. At least from the events outlined in the letter it wasn't. I know last year there was an agreement between mckean and the moreno's, but they backout. This time the moreno's initiated.

It may seem I am trying to defend Mckean, and in this case I am because i dont see where he was divisive. So Raul comes to him as a brother in the lord and wants to align his church with his, should Mckean turn his brother away. It's different if he had gone to Santiago and split the church.

Ultimately this is a good story because as much as we want to hear about unity and the good news in different churches trying to achieve that, we need to look at the lessons from stories like these. I pray that the icoc contigent will have ears to hear why the moreno's felt they needed to align there church with kip. I pray that leaders in kip's movement will acknowledge their roots, their brethren in churches outside there fellowship, and the commitment most of them have towards missions. I pray that everyone who visits this website will have a heart and desire to see real unity, first in the restoration movement and then with all true christians God has called.

Kingmasada, You make some good points. Perhaps more background on the situation would have made more sense, and I apologize for not being more thoughtful. I do believe that a little yeast works its way through the batch and Mr. McKean's influence is certainly powerful yeast. The men who marked him are men I trust and respect. Certainly, I do not want this to be a witch hunt, and I pray for his repentance. Thank you for pointing out my insensitivity.

Sincerely,
Phil
