The Deception of Ecumenicalism
Page 2

What divide the Restoration Movement are our opinions over disputable matters (Romans 14:1). The book of Romans lists many things which are not necessarily all that debatable. Paul certainly could have given a list of what was acceptable and what was not. He did not produce such a list. Romans 14:13-18 succinctly rebukes our movement for placing priority on judgment and not acting in love. We have confused righteousness with being right.

The Stone-Campbell movement has unity in our understanding of theology and a relationship with God. Let us embrace our biblical unity, “so that the world may believe that you have sent me [Jesus].” (John 17:21b) Those in our movement will see real unity in action and think twice about a second rate solution of ecumenicalism.
