John 14:6-7 Jesus answered [Thomas], “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.
“I am” – Exodus 13:14 God said to Moses, "I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: 'I AM has sent me to you.’” Jesus does not shy away from his identity. He does not state that he teaches the truth or can show the way or help one live a better life. Jesus’ being is life, truth and the way.
“…the way and the truth and the life” – Jesus is exclusively the path to God and holds the truth. Life can be found through no one or nothing else. This dispels the notion that there are other avenues for salvation. Jesus must be at the center of one’s faith and consequently actions.
“No one comes to the Father except through me.” – Once again Jesus does not equivocate. To approach God, one must go through Jesus.
“If you really knew me you would know my Father as well.” – Jesus now tells his disciples that not only did he come from the Father but he is the way to the Father.
“From now on, you do know him and have seen him.” – Jesus boldly states knowing him is equivalent to knowing the Father. From not seeing God to seeing the Father, Jesus is intimate access to Yahweh.
Many have adopted a worldview which sees all religions as the same. On a cursory scan this may appear to be a valid approach to religion. However, John 14:6-7 disallows Christians from deviating from Christ as the center of faith and access to the God.
