Many may ask what is the purpose of a movement for unity within the Restoration Movement. Other may wonder what "unity" really means. This site is dedicated to promoting cooperation, fellowship and understanding in Stone-Campbell churches without comprimising core theology or salvation doctrine.

The Restoration Movement is not merely another set of churches with a different creed. It is a collection of congregations with a shared heritage and distinctive theology. The common background and thinking are the elements which can be used as a basis of unity. There is strength in unity and Jesus lifts up unity in John 17:23b "May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me." Unity is not about believers, it is about the lost.

The shared thinking and history of Restoration congregations is not only the basis of unity but unfortunately the seed of division. We have a background of fragmenting over subjects and arguments which have little or no effect on salvation or theology. Opinions have become convictions and convictions have be relegated to opinions. Our quest for Bible understanding, while good, has led us at times into bitter disputes, divorcing ourselves into smaller and smaller factions. Each of us points the finger at the other and declares, "heretic" or "apostate." Disunity of this magnitude is not pleasing to God and hampers our outreach.

Our commonality and the Holy Spirit can overcome our arrogance. We agree that there is a God and Jesus rose from the dead by His power. Through repentance and a faithful baptism for the forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38) we can participate in the burial and resurrection of Jesus. Our current life is changed by the Holy Spirit and we can look forward to a rebirth after we die. (Romans 6:3) Jesus only commands a response of loving obedience. (Luke 10:27) On these we can agree.
