Respect
Romans 12:10; Philippians 2:3; 1 Peter 2:17

I must confess, this study has been challenging for me. My level of respect is often compromised by selfish ambition (Philippians 2:3).  Secondly, respecting the church (1 Peter 2:17) and seeing its majesty (despite imperfections) is not always my attitude. My brothers and the church at large deserve respect because their king is God. Please hold me accountable to the standard of the Bible to be respectful of others.

  • Respect: Devoted to one another in love, Romans 12:10
Do I consider others to be lifted up?
How do I honor my brothers?
Do those in my fellowship and beyond feel respected by me? (Ask them)
  • Respect: Godly ambition, Philippians 2:3
What is my motivation?
Do I need praise to do what is right?
Are my actions altruistic or is there a benefit to me?
Do those who know me feel I respect those around me or that I am out for my own good? (Ask someone else)
  • Respect: Fear God and honor the King, 1 Peter 2:17
Do I respect the brotherhood of believers, the church?
Do I lift it up when talking about it?
Am I respectful with God? Jesus?
