Reaching the Same Conclusion

One popular method of bible interpretation which runs afoul of scriptural intent is the “pick and choose” approach. Proof text out of context is the trademark of this method. Using poetic passages for doctrinal stances or making allegories from literal writings; mismatching genre to the appropriate approach. Those who employ “pick and choose” should be corrected and shown how to apply the bible in a fashion befitting God.

Let us find unity in what is common among our brotherhood. Our theology is common. Our salvation is also common. Our differences lie outside these two paramount subjects. Let us focus on our common ground and what is important for our relationship with God as we  reach the  same conclusion.

Clair, Good Question. Sorry for the confusion.

Explicit Authorization (EA) - The bible must specifically allow or command an action for it to be within God's will. i.e. - the bible does not specifically authorize mission societies, therefore they are prohibited.

Explicit Prohibition (EP) - What the bible does not specifically prohibit by command can be explored. i.e. - the bible does not specifically (by command) prohibit mission societies, therefore the option can be explored.

I hope this helps. I am sure someone with more education and better training would have more suitable and standard terminology.

Sincerely,
Phil
