Same Conclusions
One of the fundamental differences between streams in the Restoration Movement is hermeneutical technique. Conservative elements will argue from the position, unless the bible authorizes (fill in the blank) than it is not within God’s will (Explicit Authorization [EA]). Less conservative people will counter with, unless the bible prohibits (fill in the blank) there is freedom to engage in (fill in the blank)(Explicit Prohibition [EP]). Both of these approaches have consequences and can result in legalism or libertarianism if taken to extremes without heart checks. Despite the chasm between each ideology concerning God’s word basic theology and salvation doctrine can be agreed upon.

Theology

Whether one ascribes to the Explicit Authorization or Explicit Prohibition theory, the bible is clear on God’s nature. He is holy, paramount, merciful, jealous, peaceful, the creator, etc… Scripture after scripture can attest to the many facets of God’s character.

Leviticus 11:44 I am the LORD your God; consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy.

Leviticus 18:4 You must obey my laws and be careful to follow my decrees. I am the LORD your God.

Exodus 20:3 "You shall have no other gods before me.

Deuteronomy 4:31 For the LORD your God is a merciful God; he will not abandon or destroy you or forget the covenant with your forefathers, which he confirmed to them by oath.

Deuteronomy 4:24 For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.

1 Corinthians 14:33 For God is not a God of disorder but of peace.

Hebrews 3:4 For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything.
