Protecting the flock
Leaders of a congregation have a duty and obligation to protect the flock. Acts 20:29 I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. Open doors between congregations may provide a gateway for false teaching. It is a real possibility that there are theological or salvation doctrine issues which would be harmful if introduced to a church. Elders and other leaders who are cautious with their approach to other congregations are fulfilling their roles. They must investigate and “Test everything. Hold on to the good.” (1 Thessalonians 5:21)
