FDC 2006 The Florida Discipleship Conference (FDC) took place from July 21-23, 2006. It included people from seven former ICOC churches and one Restoration Church without an ICOC background. There were several faith-building elements of this gathering.
News of former ICOC congregations having varying levels of contact with their local church of Christ was encouraging. One Boston Movement congregation was in communication with its traditional counterpart to coordinate campus events. Another church had a shared worship service with its traditional brothers and sisters. Finally, The Church at Shiloh Farm (a non-ICOC, Restoration congregation) participated in the conference and is part of the Florida Mission Council as well.
There were a handful of people at the conference who expressed their desire to see unity among Restoration churches. They too were encouraged by the progress and look forward to more coordination and fellowship with brothers outside their immediate stream of the Stone-Campbell movement.
From the Unmitigated Personal Plug and Promotion Department: Finally, RestorationUnity.com had a table at the conference. A newsletter, display, coffee mug and contact cards were included. Those who are familiar with the Restoration Movement and approached me were encouraged and interested by the progress toward unity.

Cool! Written by Alan on 2006-07-24 04:38:41 It's great to hear of actual cooperation "on the ground" between these churches. Thanks for the encouraging news!
